Patricia Walden's Abortion Story
New & Featured • 30m
Here, we have one of America’s most loved and respected yoga teachers, Patricia Walden sharing her story.
Yoga teachers are not (historically) encouraged to talk about their medical histories, let alone abortions. Enshrined in that silence is the implication that the yoga teacher must be healthy, able-bodied, politically-neutered, and pure…always. But now, it is our responsibility as yoga teachers, to shed that fiction, and step into truth, encouraging others to do the same.
As an industry peopled mostly by women, and bodies that birth, it does not escape us that most of the people we serve are directly impacted by the Dobbs decision. The policing of bodies is violence. SCOTUS throwing away stare decisis is thrusting much of the country back into a darkness we thought was behind us. So what is left to do? Vote. Help others vote.
Support the organizations fighting on the ground to help people access the medical care they need.
